Adarsh, affectionately known as Tina, was the first 'Nalwa' girl to travel overseas before her marriage. In 1958, she went on a scholarship to America to study agricultural advancements.

In the 1960s, Tina was married to an electrical engineer who worked for Tata Steel, and she cherishes her memories of living in Durgapur. Tina gave birth to two daughters, who have grown into highly successful young women.

In the 1970s, Tina's husband was offered a job in the US. He preceded his family to prepare for the family's relocation. When Tina and the girls joined him a few years later in a small farming community in Vernon, New Jersey, he had built a beautiful house. The family of four were the only Indians in Vernon, and Tina's husband was distinctive for wearing a turban. When her children went to the local school, they were given an award for being the first international students.

Tina taught her daughters the value of hard work and ensured they received a good education in America in the 1980s. Throughout her life, Tina has exemplified the resilience and courage of a proud Nalwa girl, confronting every challenge with determination.

Tina now lives in New Delhi.
